Pratyahara
PRATYAHARA
Pratyahara, often described as “the conscious withdrawal of energy from the senses,” is the fifth limb of yoga.
In a world that constantly asks for our attention, the practise of Pratyahara invites us to turn some of that attention back inward. Not to disconnect, but to become more intentional about what we take in, what we respond to, and where we place our energy.
This is the first of our 13 yearly cycles, and it felt like a natural place to begin The Sanctuary: before going deeper, we create space.
Over 28 days, we’ll explore Pratyahara through movement, breath, meditation and reflection — practising the shift from external stimulation towards a quieter awareness of what is happening within.
A practise of returning to yourself.
